CHRIST
THE KING
CENTER
Update July, 2023
The Village of Glandorf Council voted this Spring to deny the zoning request that would have allowed the proposed Christ the King Center Campus to be constructed on what is presently the Schroeder property in Glandorf, OH. So, we have taken a “pause” to prayerfully discern God’s will. No specific decisions have yet been made. We are prayerfully evaluating options.
We, the board of directors and the proponents of Christ the King Center (CKC) are disappointed, perhaps wounded, by the village council actions. Our work is not ended; we continue to to discern what God has in store for CKC. Please know that CKC is not defined by a piece of property, nor a proposed campus, but by our mission to “inspire us, our families, and our communities to become saints by making Christ the center of our lives”. Our underlying vision of providing Gospel based experiences to foster spiritual growth; to enhance personal relationships with God is intact and is unwavering. Our values, built around deepening our faith and moving forward in holiness, of living our lives according to God’s will, are just as relevant as before.
More than ever, this world, our society needs a shared recommitment to counter the worldly evil we see and experience in this “all about me” culture. Our Catholic values are under attack everywhere. CKC remains focused to a Christendom ideal for all of society where our Christian values and our Catholic faith can be fully and fearlessly lived and shared. We are committed to our purpose; we trust God will point the way.
Please continue to pray for us, our families, and our communities; that this stumbling block will become HIS stepping stone. What adjustments is he asking us to make?
In the ensuing months, we will share our thoughts and ideals. Please share yours with us.
The Board of Directors,
Christ the King Center
Update May, 2024
Late last year at a Diocesan event in Toledo, His Excellency, The Most Reverend Bishop Daniel E Thomas pulled Jeanette and I aside and asked for a meeting regarding Christ the King Center. He wanted to better understand where we were in our vision and plans. He had heard both negatives and positives from others and wished to directly hear from us. In February, 2024, we presented to him the same presentation we gave at the public meetings the year prior, updated to include the the actions of the village that denied our request to rezone our property that would have permitted the build out of the campus. In our discussions, we noted "the sheep are scattered; we need shepherds to calm them". Bishop Thomas stood up, saying "I am in! I endorse the endeavor!" Later we received a copy of this letter he sent to the Village of Glandorf and to St John the Baptist Pastor and Parish.
We are most grateful for our Bishop's support. Our prayers are joined to his in praying for Holy Disciples, Holy Families, and Holy Vocations.

Update August, 2024
With the expressed support of His Excellency, Bishop Daniel Thomas for Christ the King Center, St John the Baptist Parish also took action to clarify their position regarding Christ the King Center. The pastor reiterated his unquestioned support to the Village of Glandorf for Christ the King Center endeavor. The Parish Council together with the Pastor also initiated a Letter of Intent (LOI) to grant Christ the King Center access through Church owned land via Blanchard Avenue to the south of the proposed campus. Both the letter of support and the LOI were addressed to the Glandorf Village.
To clarify, the proposed campus sits on the approximately 18 acres of the Elton and Jeanette Schroeder property (620 E Blake St.) on the east-northeast side of the village. It is bordered by the Blanchard River to the east and northeast and by 30 plus acres of farm land owned by the Catholic Church to the west and south. A southern access, required for utilities and, preferred for roadway, as proposed would connect to Blanchard Avenue from an empty lot already owned by Christ the King Center.
Update November, 2024
Support for Christ the King Center in all forms of prayers, testimonies, and letters have continued to to come in. Over the summer "prayer days" were hosted at the proposed Christ the King Center site for those who wished to come to pray for their intentions and those of the Church. Many prayed the rosary on the St Rita Rosary Walk around the pond, others spent time in quiet reflection at the Blessed Virgin shrine in the back yard. On one such day the Holy Face relic was available for veneration. What a blessing having visitors share their faith and offer prayers for our world, our country, our communities, and our families! Praise Christ, King of the Universe!
A number of Catholic clergy visited for an update on Christ the King Center. Without exception they offered their whole hearted support. Follows is one such expression:
